Gwen Stefani's career has taken a few weird turns, but this week I was reminded of Tragic Kindgom, No Doubt's break-out album (which spawned seven singles. Oy, the music industry has changed). It's classic early-90s California ska, but as time-specific as that sound might be, the album really holds up. I can take or leave the rest of No Doubt's catalogue, but I will defend Tragic Kingdom (both the album and the song) until my voice goes hoarse. I could really pick any song from the album, but the title track is what's been stuck in my head this week, so that's what you get.
